Ladybug's Makeover

by Jswetch

/

about

This is a makeover of another track that was shared here about a year ago called La Procession des Coccinelles. The intention with that had been to mimic a procession into a town festival that had medieval overtones somewhere in southern France or northern Italy. Thanks to the makeover, the geography might've changed a bit.
The genesis of this whole thing was coming up with the tune in DADGAD tuning on the guitar. It's definitely influenced by some of the acoustic instrumental work by players like Richard Thompson (The Choice Wife) and Mike Oldfield (Taurus 3), but the Ladybug is her own entity.
I'd described the older version to a friend as being like your kid that you send out the door even though they haven't washed their face, have a rip or two in at least one article of clothing, uncombed hair, and an undone shoelace. With this newer version, they're being sent out again, not quite ready for a formal portrait, but looking decidedly better as they face the world.
